College World Series favorites

The Vanderbilt Commodores are the defending College World Series champions, having won in 2019 (as last year’s event was canceled), and are the betting favorites to repeat at +280. Vanderbilt is led by junior pitcher Kumar Rocker, who was named the 2019 CWS Most Outstanding Player as a freshman and is one of two Commodore pitchers that could be Top-5 picks in the upcoming MLB draft, along with Jack Leiter.

Texas (+325) is second on the odds board and sits No. 2 in the Top-25 rankings (Arkansas, which did not qualify for the CWS, is first and Vanderbilt is third). The Longhorns are making their 37th appearance in the College World Series — easily the most of any program ever, with second place being Miami with 25 appearances — and are led by MLB.com’s No. 9-ranked draft prospect Ty Madden.

Third on the odds board is Tennessee at +325, who are back in the CWS for the first time since 2005. The Vols came out of the Knoxville Super Regional scoring at least nine runs in three of their five games, not surprising for the second-highest scoring team in the field.

Understanding College World Series futures odds

College World Series futures odds will usually look like this:

This means that on a $100 bet, you’ll stand to profit $235 if the Commodores win the CWS. As the tournament progresses and one team stands out, you might see that a team is has a minus sign (-) ahead of its odds.

This means that you would need to bet $120 to win $100 on a Longhorns championship.
