D-Backs falter in ninth

Arizona allowed two runs in the bottom of the ninth Friday night to fall 3-2 at Miami. Adam Jones led the Diamondbacks’ offense in the loss as he finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Zack Greinke helped his own cause as he went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Jake Lamb ended the game 1-for-3 with a triple and a run. Greg Holland took the loss in relief as he allowed two earned runs on two hits with no strikeouts and one walk over one-third of an inning. Alex Young draws the start today for Arizona as he enters with a 3-0 record, 2.38 ERA and 0.66 WHIP with 18 strikeouts over 22 2/3 innings.

Marlins rally in final at-bat

Harold Ramirez drove in the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly Friday night as Miami scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to defeat Arizona by a count of 3-2. Miguel Rojas finished the contest 2-for-4 with a run scored to help pace the Marlins offense. Garrett Cooper finished 2-for-4 with a double. Neil Walker went 0-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI. Jose Quijada picked up the win in relief as he struck out one and walk one over one scoreless frame. Jordan Yamamoto will start today for the Marlins as he comes in with a 4-1 record, 2.61 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 38 strikeouts over 38 innings of work.

MLB Betting Trends

The Diamondbacks are 3-9 in their last 12 game twos of a series. Arizona is 7-2 in the last nine meetings.

The Marlins are 5-2 in the last seven Yamamoto starts. Miami is 3-7 in its last 10 games versus a left-handed starter.

Young has been exceptional so far for Arizona, but so has Yamamoto for the Marlins. This is a bit of a tossup game in my opinion, but Young is perhaps due for a poor start while Yamamoto is probably due for a good start giving up five earned runs over four innings in a tough matchup at the Dodgers his last time out. I’m going to roll the dice on another home win for Miami here.
