Red Sox shut out by O’s

Boston did not register a hit until the seventh inning Sunday afternoon as it was shut out 5-0 at Baltimore. Rafael Devers had the lone hit for the Red Sox as he finished 1-for-4 with a double. Brock Holt walked in his only plate appearance. Jackie Bradley Jr. went 0-for-2 with a walk, while Mookie Betts was 0-for-3 with a walk. Andrew Cashner took the loss as he gave up four earned runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and two walks over six innings. Eduardo Rodriguez gets the start today for Boston as he enters with an 11-4 record, 4.34 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 120 strikeouts over 116 innings pitched.

Rays snap five-game skid

Tampa Bay doubled up visiting Chicago by a count of 4-2 Sunday afternoon to end its five-game losing streak. Travis d’Arnaud helped pace the Rays offensively as he finished 1-for-3 with a grand slam. Austin Meadows went 1-for-3 with a double plus a walk. Avisail Garcia was 1-for-3 and scored a run. Blake Snell picked up the win on the mound as he gave up no earned runs on three hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks over six innings. Adam Kolarek threw a perfect ninth inning for his first save of the season. Jalen Beeks draws the start today for Tampa Bay as he comes in with a 5-0 record, 2.78 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 56 strikeouts over 64 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Boston

The Red Sox are 5-1 in their last six Monday games. Boston is 18-4 in the last 22 Rodriguez road starts.

Tampa Bay

The Rays are 22-4 in their last 26 Monday games. Tampa Bay is 3-7 in its last 10 series openers.

Prediction:

Tampa Bay was in a bit of a funk, but perhaps getting back on the winning side of the coin will put all that in the rearview. With Boston’s offense so inconsistent, I really like the hosts here. The Rays can occasionally struggle against lefties, but there are a few guys in the lineup who should excel. Beeks has been solid as a starter or bulk reliever and I trust him in this spot.
