According to oddsmakers, the Blue Jays and Red Sox are considered even today, as both are being listed with -105 to win tonight. The over/under total for the game is listed at 10.5 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 69 percent going on the Red Sox on the road. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Red Sox fall again

The Boston Red Sox have lost four of their last five games after suffering a 6-3 loss at Toronto last night. The Sox are 45-41 overall, 25-19 on the road and 48-35 with the over. Boston has Hector Velazquez getting the start today. He is 1-3 on the season with a 5.31 ERA.

Boston couldn’t find that balance of hitting and pitching on Wednesday. Chris Sale threw 5.2 innings and allowed five runs on nine hits to take his eighth loss of the season. At the plate, Boston had eight hits with Christian Vazquez getting a solo home run while Rafael Devers had two RBI.

Blue Jays trying to heat up

Toronto has won four of its last six games following Wednesday’s win over the Red Sox. The Blue Jays is now 33-54 overall, 17-27 at home and 44-40 with the over. Toronto has Marcus Stroman getting the start today. He is 5-9 on the year with a 3.18 ERA.

Jacob Waguespack threw five innings in relief and gave up three runs to get his first win of the year. Ken Giles earned his 13th save of the season by throwing a perfect ninth. Toronto put up three home runs in the win, as Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit his 15th of the year while Brandon Drury had three hits with two RBI, including a solo homer. Danny Jansen also went long.

MLB Betting Trends

Boston

The Red Sox are just 10-2 in their last 12 road games and 36-16 in their last 52 games on astroturf.

Toronto

The Blue Jays are 5-2 in their last seven home games and 3-9 in their last 12 home games against a right-handed starter.

Prediction:

Stroman has been pretty good for Toronto this year despite not getting much help from his hitters or bullpen. Velasquez doesn’t start often, but he is consistent at giving up runs even in short stints. Given that Boston just isn’t playing well right now, I expect the Red Sox to continue to look lackluster on the road. Their pitching won’t shine today and I think their hitting won’t be able to overcome the pitching.

MLB Prediction: Toronto Blue Jays -105
