Side pick

There is nothing about Chelsea’s form under Tuchel that is in question. The reintegration of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Marcos Alonso into the team in a back five has seen the Blues’ defense reinvigorated, with just two goals conceded in 10 matches.

Though they are yet to really pour in goals, their attacking options have looked threatening under Tuchel, with Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech in particular impressing. Timo Werner, too, looks like he just needs to net one in order to get going — and he should have done so against Liverpool if not for a dreadful VAR decision. The Blues are very strong at the back at the moment and are not short on options going forward.

Everton, meanwhile, could be without their talisman James Rodriguez, after he missed out last week due to an injury. Against Chelsea that will be bad news, with nobody else in the side capable of unlocking a back five playing as compact as the Blues have been playing.

PICK: Chelsea (-189)

Over/Under pick

The strength of Chelsea’s backline since Tuchel came in has meant they have not needed many goals to secure three points, only topping one goal thrice (with two-goal performances against Burnley, Sheffield United and Newcastle United). While they do have an excess of talent in attack, it hasn’t yet translated to explosive performances. That could still come before the current season ends, but we need to see it first.

Though Everton has one of the league’s best No. 9s on current form in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, they are just ninth in goals per game in the Prem and could be without James, who leads the team in goals + assists per 90 minutes. Though they do have a few other creative players in the side, it all falls apart without James’ presence.

With one side likely to be toothless in this one, we like the Under.

PICK: Under 2.5 (-128)

Team prop pick

Our faith in the Under is rooted in the Toffees’ expected struggles in the back, as well as the Blues’ excellent form in defense. Add in the fact this match will be played at Stamford Bridge and we feel good about Chelsea’s chances of posting a seventh clean sheet under Tuchel, with Everton being held off the scoresheet for the first time since mid-February.

PICK: Only Chelsea FC to score (+139)
