Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin

Javier Baez went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Mets. Baez lined a Marcus Stroman offering past a diving Michael Conforto in the second inning that allowed him to easily make it to second with a double, but he tried for three bases and was thrown out easily. In the sixth he made sure he wouldn’t have to run, knocking a Stroman delivery over the wall in right field for a two-run homer. He added a run-scoring double into the left field corner in the eighth inning. The 26-year-old has followed up a breakout 2018 season with a strong encore campaign, hitting .285/.319/.543 with 29 homers, 85 RBI, 86 runs scored and 10 steals through Tuesday’s games.

New York Mets Fantasy Spin

Pete Alonso set the Mets’ all-time record for home runs with his 42nd of the year Tuesday against the Cubs. In a scoreless game in the fourth inning, Alonso went up and crushed a Yu Darvish delivery to the opposite field for a solo blast. The home run set a team record for homers in a season, previously held by Carlos Beltran and Todd Hundley. That he did it with more than a month left in the season is pretty amazing, and leaves us to wonder where the record will stand when the smoke clears. The 24-year-old is hitting .265/.367/.596 with 42 RBI, 101 RBI and 79 runs scored in 130 games overall.
