Coming off a tight loss to the Milwaukee Bucks that slipped away from them late, the Clippers will look to get back on track versus a Celtics team that’s hoping to extend its winning streak to a modest three games.

Against the spread (ATS) pick

The Celtics enter tonight having won two straight as they look to end their first-half schedule on a high note after going 3-7 in their previous 10 games. It hasn’t been the smoothest season for Boston following a run to the Eastern Conference Finals last year, with the Celtics sitting sixth in the East with a .500 record.

Boston could easily be in fourth or, with tough games against the Clippers and Toronto Raptors coming up, out of the playoff picture in the tight and wonky East race by the end of the week. The Celtics have played much better at home this season, which is where they’ll get Los Angeles tonight, but they enter 1-4 ATS over their last five and face a Westen Conference heavyweight that plays well on the road.

Led by All-Stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the Clippers are 20-16 ATS (the sixth-best mark in the NBA) but have been uneven over a difficult stretch that has seen them play the first-place Utah Jazz twice, plus the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks over their last seven games. They took one from the Jazz, but lost the other contests.

Still, versus a Celtics team that doesn’t resemble an East finalist and has listed Jaylen Brown and his 25 points per night as questionable after he missed last game with knee soreness, we’re backing Los Angeles as road favorites. The Clippers can score – they’re a big threat from long range where they have an NBA-best 41.6 percent 3-point mark – and could easily turn this into a blowout if Brown is sidelined.

PREDICTION: Clippers -4 (-110)

Over/Under pick

These teams collide for the second time this season after Boston won the first meeting 119-115 last month. That was the first of seven consecutive games that George missed with a foot injury, but now healthy again, he should help the Clippers threaten for the No. 1 seed in the difficult West if Utah starts slowing down.

Although they rank fourth in the NBA in offensive rating, score the sixth-most points per game at 114.9, and have a 20-15-1 O/U record, the Clippers have only hit the Over once in their past seven games, and have gone Under in three straight.

Both teams, sitting middle-of-the-pack in defensive rating, can clamp down when they need to (the Clippers, especially, have some gifted defenders) and a marquee game like this should get the best out of both of them on that end of the floor.

Boston, 1-6 O/U in its last seven as a home underdog, has gone Under in five of its last 10. The Celtics rank 20th in offensive rating over that 10-game stretch and if Brown is forced to sit again, it’s hard to see them making up that lost offense.

We like the Under, whether Brown plays or not, but jump on it soon in case it drops even lower if he’s ruled out and the total gets to an unfriendly spot.

PREDICTION: Under 222 (-110)
