VerHagen hit hard in loss

Detroit lost its third straight game Thursday night by a count of 10-2 at Seattle to drop to 30-68 overall and 17-32 on the road. John Hicks led the Tigers offense as he finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored. Jeimer Candelario ended the game 1-for-4 with an RBI. Nicholas Castellanos, Christin Stewart and Niko Goodrum all went 1-for-4. Drew VerHagen took the loss as he gave up seven runs (six earned) on six hits with four strikeouts and four walks over four innings. Daniel Norris gets the start today for Detroit as he comes in with a 2-8 record, 5.02 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 82 strikeouts over 100 1/3 innings.

M’s bring out big bats

Seattle posted a 10-2 home win Thursday night over Detroit in a series opener. Tim Beckham paced the Mariners offense as he finished 1-for-5 with a grand slam. J.P. Crawford went 2-for-4 with a walk, three runs scored and an RBI. Kyle Seager ended the game 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double. Wade LeBlanc picked up the win as the bulk reliever as he allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk over six innings. MLB Betting Trends

The Tigers are 30-67 in their last 97 road games. Detroit is 15-41 in its last 56 Friday games.

The Mariners are 25-52 in their last 77 games overall. Seattle is 7-21 in its last 28 games against a left-handed starter.

The Tigers are dreadful and even though the Mariners struggle against left-handed pitching, I can’t trust Norris here. Kikuchi has had some rough spells this season, but when he’s on he has the ability to be an adueqate starter. He should find success here against a weak Detroit lineup. On a moneyline this low, I can’t recommend anything but Seattle.
