Brian Elliott was given the hook during Wednesday’s 9-0 loss to the New York Rangers. The Flyers were simply horrendous from top to bottom, especially in the second period. Elliott gave up two goals in the first period and three more during New York’s seven-goal performance in the second frame. He ended up coming out of the game after allowing five goals on just 13 shots in 27:30 of action. Carter Hart, who entered the game in relief of Elliott, gave up four more goals on 16 shots the rest of the way. The 35-year-old netminder now has 7-4-0 record with a 2.97 goals-against-average and a .892 save percentage in 2021. The Flyers should burn the tape from this game as soon as possible.

New York Islanders DFS Spin

Anders Lee (knee) will undergo surgery and miss the remainder of the 2020-21 campaign. Lee has 12 goals and 19 points in 27 contests this season. He was hurt on March 11 when he got tangled up with Pavel Zacha. The Islanders moved Lee to the long-term injured reserve list, which allows them to exceed the salary cap by his $7 million cap hit. That does give the Islanders a lot of flexibility to make a big trade before the deadline.

Flyers vs. Islanders NHL Prediction

The Flyers are just 1-4 in their last five road games against the Islanders, while the home side is 6-2 in the last eight meetings between these two teams and the favorite has cashed in 56 of the last 77 meetings. Philadelphia is also 0-7 in its last seven games as an underdog, while New York is 16-5 in its last 21 games overall and 18-6 in its last 24 home games.
