Castro homers twice in defeat

Minnesota blew an early 3-0 lead Tuesday night at Oakland in what ended as an 8-6 loss. Jason Castro helped lead the Twins offense as he ended the contest 3-for-4 with two solo home runs plus a double. Miguel Sano went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Luis Arraez was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Jake Odorizzi suffered the loss as he gave up six runs (five earned) on four hits with two strikeouts and three walks over three innings. Kyle Gibson will start tonight for Minnesota as he comes in with an 8-4 record, 4.21 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 88 strikeouts over 87 2/3 innings.

Hermann leads A’s rally

Oakland scored two runs in the third inning before a Chris Hermann grand slam put it ahead for good in the fourth Tuesday night in an 8-6 home win over Minnesota. Herman ended the game 1-for-3 with the grand slam plus a walk. Mark Canha finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs. Matt Olson was 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Daniel Mengden picked up the win as he gave up five earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and no walks over 5 2/3 innings. Liam Hendriks earned his third save as he struck out two in one perfect frame. Mike Fiers will start tonight for the A’s as he comes in with an 8-3 record, 4.01 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 66 strikeouts over 101 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

The Twins are 5-0 in their last five game twos of a series. Minnesota is 1-4 in its last five games overall.

The A’s are 5-0 in the last five Fiers starts. Oakland is 4-0 in its last four games overall.

Oakland has been hot with the bats as of late and the Twins are struggling. Fiers is a veteran who gives solid starts deep into games more often than not. I don’t want to fade Oakland right now while it is playing such good baseball, especially at a nice price against a slumping team.
