With the excitement of the opening game of the NBA Finals now in the rear-view mirror, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors are all set to go to war in what should be a long and exciting series.

Covers talks to the guys who set the lines, both on the Las Vegas Strip and online, to find out where the public money is going and whether or not there could be any changes to the betting numbers before tonight’s tipoff.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Golden State Warriors – Open: Warriors -6.5, Move: -6

In Game 1, the Warriors showed the world that they are more than just Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. The Warriors’ dynamic duo combined for just 20 points but they were still able to handle the Cavs easily, 104-89, and cover the six-point spread at home. Golden State’s bench, led by Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston, outscored the Cleveland bench 46-10 in the victory.

Despite the dominance showed by the Warriors in the opener, the spread opened only a half point higher for tonight’s Game 2 and, as explained by vice president of risk management for CG Technology Jason Simbal, the market forced a move back to the same number as Game 1.

“We opened the game at 6.5, and were one of the last 6.5’s out there yesterday, when we took a limit bet on the Cavs and have since been at 6,” Simbal said of Saturday’s drop in the line, “The spread action is pretty balanced, 52% of the money on Cleveland.”

Like most games in these 2016 NBA playoffs, the gambling public is heavily on the Over – forcing the books to bump their over/under number higher. The total for Game 2 opened at 207 but is now up to 209 or 209.5 at most shops.

According to online book, 55 percent of the wagers they have taken on the total have been on the Over despite moving the line a full two points higher since the completion of Game 1.

Simbal also added, “The total opened at 207 and has gone up to 209, so we will need the under.”
