Cano guides Mets to win

New York pulled away from host Miami Sunday afternoon for a 6-2 win to improve to 42-51 overall and 19-32 on the road. Robinson Cano led the Mets offensively as he finished 4-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two runs. Jeff McNeil ended the contest 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Adeiny Hechavarria went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Jacob deGrom picked up the win as he gave up one earned run on six hits with six strikeouts and three walks over five innings. Steven Matz draws the start tonight for New York as he enters with a 5-6 record, 4.89 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 78 strikeouts over 81 innings.

Twins unable to complete sweep

Minnesota rallied for three runs to tie it in the seventh inning Sunday afternoon at Cleveland, but ultimately gave up the deciding run in the bottom of the seventh in what ended as a 4-3 defeat. Marwin Gonzalez led the offense as he ended the game 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Max Kepler was 1-for-5 with an RBI from the leadoff spot. Luis Arraez went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run. Trevor May picked up the win in relief as he gave up one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts and no walks over one inning of work. Michael Pineda gets the start tonight for the Twins as he comes in with a 6-4 record, 4.56 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 84 strikeouts over 92 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Mets are 5-11 in their last 16 games overall. New York is 10-27 in its last 37 road games.

The Twins are 5-1 in the last six Pineda starts. Minnesota is 36-16 in its last 52 home games.

Pineda has been pitching as well as he has all season lately, allowing more than one earned run only once in his last five starts and only giving up two two home runs over his last seven starts. For a pitcher that was very hyped before arm injuries set him back for years, this is about as good as the Twins could have hoped from Pineda. While there might be some rough patches the rest of the way, I like his matchup here against the Mets and he should get run support as a potent Minnesota offense will face a struggling pitcher in Matz. Go with the home team here.
