Phillies vs. Braves, 5/9/21 MLB Betting Predictions & DFS Notes

The ESPN Sunday Night Baseball game features rivals from the National League East, as the Braves host the Phillies at 7:08 p.m. ET. With Aaron Nola set to oppose Huascar Ynoa, what’s the best play on the board when it comes to this matchup?

Game Snapshot

Truist Park, Atlanta, GA

Philadelphia Phillies DFS Spin

Jean Segura went 3-for-4 with a homer on Saturday in an extra-innings loss to the Braves. Segura gave the Phillies a 1-0 lead with a solo homer off of Ian Anderson; his second homer of the season. He also singled twice, and Segura is now slashing .391/.411/.536 over 19 games and 69 at-bats. A small sample, to be sure, but Segura has shown the ability to hit for average in the past, and he’s looked like the player who hit over .300 each year from 2016 to 2018.

Atlanta Braves DFS Spin

Pablo Sandoval hit a pinch-hit two-run homer on Saturday in a extra-innings win over the Phillies. Panda time. Sandoval came up with two outs and a runner on first in a 3-1 game, and with two strikes, the veteran swatted a game-tying homer off Hector Neris in a game the Braves won in 12 innings. Sandoval has been a weapon off the bench for Atlanta, as he’s hit four homers and is slashing a very strong .290/.389/.677. It’s been fun to watch for those who remember Sandoval as one of the better third baseman in baseball in his time with the Giants.

Phillies vs. Braves Betting Prediction

The over is a perfect 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two teams and is 5-0 in the last five meetings in Atlanta. The over is also 4-1 in the Phillies’ last five games overall and is 4-0 in their last four divisional matchups. On the other side, the over is 5-1 in the Braves’ last six games as a home dog, is 8-0 in their last eight home games versus an opponent with a winning record and is 8-3-1 in their last 12 games versus fellow NL East opponents.
