Wander Franco had a memorable major league debut, hitting a game-tying three-run home run and adding a double in the Rays’ loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday. Franco battled back from an 0-2 hole to draw a walk in his first plate appearance before flying out to deep center field in his next trip to the dish. He then stepped up in the fifth inning with the Rays down three and two runners on and lined the first pitch he saw from Eduardo Rodriguez over the left field wall. It wasn’t even a bad pitch from E-Rod, Franco just went down to get it. The wunderkind wasn’t done there, adding a double in the seventh inning. Franco batted second for the Rays in his debut and played third base. He figures to move around the infield but is a good bet to continue batting near the top of the order.
