Public Betting Trends

According to our MLB Public Betting Chart page, 73% of the betting tickets are on the Dodgers to beat the Padres on the moneyline.

San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin

Manuel Margot launched a two-run homer in the eighth inning to help the Padres defeat the Dodgers on Saturday. Margot gave the Padres a commanding three-run lead thanks to a clutch two-run homer off Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda in the eighth inning. It was his lone hit in three at-bats. The 24-year-old outfielder has endured a brutal 2019 campaign, hitting .237/.293/.353 with four homers and 11 steals in 206 plate appearances. Given the Padres tremendous outfield depth, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Margot potentially moved at the impending trade deadline.

Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin

Justin Turner collected two hits in the Dodgers’ loss to the Padres on Saturday. The Dodgers offense had nothing going against Padres rookie sensation Chris Paddack and a trio of relievers, who limited them to just six hits combined in the loss. Turner broke up Paddack’s no-hit bid with a two-out single in the fourth inning and also singled with two outs in the eighth. The 34-year-old veteran missed a few games because of a sore left elbow earlier in the week, but he looks to be just fine heading into the All-Star break.

MLB Betting Trends

San Diego

The Padres are still just 17-38 in their last 55 meetings with the Dodgers, are 15-41 in their last 56 games played at Dodger Stadium and are winless in Joey Lucchesi’s last four starts versus L.A.

Los Angeles

The Dodgers are a perfect 5-0 in Ross Stripling’s last five starts.

Prediction:

The first two games in this series were low-scoring and I see more of the same on Sunday. The under is a perfect 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams, is 4-0 in the last four meetings at Dodger Stadium and is 4-0-1 in Stripling’s last five starts versus San Diego. The under is also 3-1-1 in the Dodgers’ last five games overall and is 8-3 in their last 11 contests when facing a left-handed starter. On the other side, the under is 3-1-1 in the Padres’ last five road games and has cashed in six of Lucchesi’s last eight outings versus a division rival.

The Pick: Padres/Dodgers UNDER 8.5
