Sharks shut out at Islanders

San Jose put up a dud Monday night as it lost 4-0 at New York. The game was scoreless through one period before the Islanders broke through with a goal in the second, then put it away with three goals over the final 20 minutes. Timo Meier paced the Sharks with five shots on goal. while Evander Kane recorded four shots on goal. Martin Jones allowed three goals on 29 shots in the loss.

Philadelphia fell 5-2 Saturday at Colorado to fall to 1-1-0 on the young season. The Avalanche put it away with two third-period goals after holding a 3-2 lead through two periods. NHL Betting Trends

San Jose

The under is 4-1 in the last five Sharks games playing on zero days of rest. San Jose is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings at Philadelphia.

Philadelphia

The under is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Philadelphia. The Flyers are 3-18-2 in the last 23 meetings overall.

Prediction:

It’s stunning how one-sided this series has been through the years, but I’m taking Philly to pull through here. The Flyers have had a couple days of rest, while San Jose is on a back-to-back and didn’t play particularly well yesterday aside from winning the shots on goal battle. Look for Philadelphia to protect its home ice with a victory here.
