Public Betting Trends

According to our MLB Public Betting Chart page, 68% of the betting tickets are on the Cardinals to beat the Pirates on the moneyline.

St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin

Yairo Munoz went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a triple and an RBI single in Sunday’s win over the Reds. Munoz drove home the Cardinals’ first run of the contest with a little RBI single in the second inning. He would later pick up his first triple of the campaign before putting the loud cap on the afternoon with a solo home run in the ninth inning. The 24-year-old utility man is hitting .306/.324/.417 with two home runs, 10 RBI and four steals in 55 games. He has managed seven extra-base hits in that space.

Pittsburgh Pirates Fantasy Spin

Melky Cabrera went 2-for-5 with an RBI in the Pirates’ loss to the Phillies in extra-innings on Sunday. Cabrera plated the Pirates’ lone run of the contest with an RBI single to left field off Phillies starter Drew Smyly in the opening frame. He also singled with one-out in the 11th inning to put the tying run on base, but was ultimately stranded. The 34-year-old veteran outfielder remains criminally underrated from a fantasy perspective. All he does is hit. He owns a sublime .304/.338/.440 triple-slash line with 31 runs scored, six home runs, 32 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 264 plate appearances. He should be owned in all deeper fantasy formats.

MLB Betting Trends

St. Louis

The Cardinals are 4-1 in their last five games overall and are 4-1 in their last five games versus a right-handed starter.

The Pirates have won six of Trevor Williams’ last seven starts at PNC Park but have dropped seven of their last nine games overall.

Tonight’s starter Daniel Ponce de Leon was ripped for four runs and eight hits over 3 2/3 innings last week against the Pirates, which might lead some bettors to take the over tonight. That said, the Pirates had excellent hitting conditions yesterday at PNC Park versus the Phillies and mustered only one run, which came in the first inning, despite playing extra innings. Meanwhile, the Cardinals took their hacks at hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati over the weekend and combined for only five runs in their last two games of the series. The Pirates have scored one or no runs in three of their last six games. I like the under.

The Pick: Cardinals/Pirates UNDER 9.5
