Public Betting Trends

According to our MLB Public Betting Chart page, 63% of the betting tickets are on the Giants to beat the Cardinals on the moneyline.

St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin

Paul Goldschmidt went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and two walks on Friday in the Cardinals’ 9-4 victory over the Giants. Goldschmidt’s homer was a no-doubter to centerfield with a runner on in the first inning off of Drew Pomeranz, and it gave the Cardinals a 3-0 lead with his 15th round-tripper of the year. The two walks help increase his on-base percentage to .342, and his slugging mark ups to .418 with the homer. There’s no denying this has been a disappointing first half of the season for Goldschmidt, but we have every reason to believe he’ll be back to providing elite production over the second part of the season.

San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin

Alex Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a homer on Friday in a loss to the Cardinals. Dickerson launched his fourth homer of the season with a solo shot off of Dakota Hudson. He also singled, and he’s now hitting .357 with a 1.211 OPS over his 14 games with the Giants. These numbers aren’t even remotely sustainable, but Dickerson has shown flashes of offensive upside before, and he’s going to get a chance to play for the rebuilding Giants. There are worse upside plays, to be sure.

MLB Betting Trends

St. Louis

The Cardinals have won four out of their last five games overall.

San Francisco

The Giants have won four out of their last five games despite losing last night at home.

Prediction:

The Cardinals are now a perfect 4-0 in their last four games versus the Giants and are 8-3 in their last 11 games played in San Francisco. St. Louis is also 23-10 in Miles Mikolas’ last 33 starts and is 15-6 in his last 21 outings on the road. On the other side, the Giants have dropped 17 of their last 23 games versus National League Central opponents and are 2-5 in Bumgarner’s last seven outings versus that same division.
