Meadows reaches base three times

Tampa Bay lost 6-2 at Houston Friday afternoon in Game 1 of the ALDS. Austin Meadows paced the Rays offensively as he finished 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and two RBIs. Eric Sogard was 1-for-1 off the bench with a run scored and an RBI. Joey Wendle was 1-for-3 with a run. Tyler Glasnow took the loss as he surrendered two earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks over 4 1/3 innings. Blake Snell will start tonight for Tampa Bay after going 6-8 with a 4.29 ERA and 1.29 WHIP plus 147 strikeouts over 107 innings during the regular season.

Verlander spectacular in win

Houston used a four-run fifth inning to take full control Friday afternoon in Game 1 of the ALDS against Tampa Bay and proceeded to roll to a 6-2 victory. Justin Verlander threw seven shutout innings to get the win as he gave up only one hit with eight strikeouts and three walks. Jose Altuve helped lead the Astros offense as he finished 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Yuli Gurriel went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Alex Bregman ended the game 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and two runs scored. Gerrit Cole starts tonight for Houston as he comes in with a 20-5 record, 2.50 ERA and 0.89 WHIP plus 326 strikeouts acros 212 1/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Tampa Bay

The Rays are 4-1 in their last five Saturday games. Tampa Bay is 3-7 in its last 10 playoff games.

The Astros are 5-0 in their last five ALDS home games. Houston is 26-4 in the last 30 Cole home starts.

This moneyline is massive for a playoff game, but it makes sense considering how dominant Cole has been this season and the Astros have been fantastic at home. Additionally, Houston hits lefties hard and Snell hasn’t been himself much of the season. I expect the Rays to put up a decent fight, but even so I see the hosts getting another win by multiple runs.
