Updated World Series Odds, 3/8/21 Dodgers Remain Favorites at 7/2

The Dodgers remain the favorites to repeat as World Series champions at 7/2, but which teams do oddsmakers consider to be a threat to L.A. this season when looking at the current Fall Classic futures?

As previously mentioned, the dodgers are 7/2 to win the World Series, followed by the Yankees at 7/1 and the Padres at 8/1. New York signed free agent pitcher Corey Kluber and also acquired SP Jameson Taillon from the Pirates. They also re-signed second baseman DJ LeMahieu to a new six-year, $90 million contract.

As for the Padres, they continued to beef up their roster in preparation to go after the Dodgers in the National League West. They started by acquiring ace Blake Snell from the Rays, then acquired starter Yu Darvish and catcher Victor Caratini from the Cubs. They also signed Jurickson Profar to a three-year deal and added international free agent Ha-Seong Kim. Of course, their biggest move of the offseason was to sign franchise cornerstone Fernando Tatis Jr. to a new 14-year, $340 million extension.

Continuing with the odds, the Braves and White Sox are both 10/1, respectively, to win the World Series, followed by the Mets at 12/1. The A’s and Rays are 20/1, respectively, while the Twins and Blue Jays are 25/1, respectively. From there, the Astros are 28/1, the Cardinals are 30/1 and the Nationals are 45/1.

Some of the mid-range longshots include the Red Sox, Reds, Angels and Phillies at 50/1, respectively, to win the World Series, as well as the Cubs and Brewers, who are 60/1, respectively. The Marlins are 75/1, the Mariners are 80/1, followed by the Diamondbacks, Orioles, Indians, Rockies, Tigers, Royals, Giants and Rangers, who are all 100/1, respectively. The Pirate have the longest odds to win the World Series at 250/1.
