Jazz playing well

Utah has won six of its last seven games coming into tonight following a 121-115 win at home over Portland on Thursday. The Jazz are 19-12 on the season, 7-9 on the road, 14-17 against the spread and 16-15 with the under.

Defense has been the story for Utah this season. They are allowing just 106.6 points per game while holding opponents to 44.3 percent shooting. Offensively, Utah is putting up 107.8 points per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from the arc. Donovan Mitchell has been leading the Jazz this season with 25.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. Rudy Gobert is adding 15.0 points and 14.3 rebounds per game. Mike Conley continues to be out with an injury. He averages 13.6 points and 4.6 assists per contest.

Clips best the Lakers

The Clippers picked up a big win on Christmas night, besting the Lakers, 111-106. Los Angeles has alternated wins and losses over its last seven games. LAC is now 23-10 on the season, 14-2 at home, 19-14 against the spread and 18-15 with the under.

Los Angeles is putting up 115.5 points per game this year while shooting 46.3 percent from the floor. Defensively, the Clippers are giving up 108.5 points per game while limiting opponents to 43.2 percent shooting. Kawhi Leonard is leading the Clippers with 25.9 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. Paul George is adding 23.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Utah

The Jazz have covered the spread in four straight Saturday games, but are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a cover.

Los Angeles

The Clippers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games as a favorite.

Prediction:

As always with the Clippers, I must warn you to keep an eye on the injury report. You never know when Leonard or George, or both, could get the night off for load management. As of this writing, nothing is being reported that the two won’t play. With both in the lineup, I like the Clippers to roll tonight. The Clippers have been great at home this year and Utah has just not been able to go toe-to-toe with the better teams in the league very well. The Jazz don’t have the scoring to compete with Leonard and George, and their defense doesn’t travel well enough to stop the deep Clippers bench.

NBA Prediction: Los Angeles Clippers -8.5
