Utah Jazz vs. New Orleans Pelicans, 3/6/19 Predictions & Odds

The Pelicans overcame a 17-point deficit to beat the Jazz earlier this week and will look to sweep the home-and-home set with Utah on Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. ET. Listed as a 5.5-point home dog, are the Pelicans one of the better values on the board tonight?

Our NBA Live Odds page pulls spreads and totals from multiple different online sportsbooks so you can compare betting odds to ensure you’re getting the best line.

Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Jazz are 4-point favorites to beat the Pelicans. The total, meanwhile, sits at 231 points and as of this writing, 81% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Jazz to cover the point spread.

Utah Jazz Fantasy Spin

Donovan Mitchell had a signature night during a thrilling 115-111 win over the Bucks on Saturday, scoring a career-high 46 points with three rebounds, six assists, two steals, one block and five 3-pointers in 39 minutes. The Jazz looked to be dead down 90-73 with 9:39 left, but then Donovan Mitchell happened. He scored 19 points in the final 8:10 as the home squad surged for this big win against the NBA’s No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Mitchell is starting his second half on fire, averaging 33.0 points, 5.4 boards, 5.2 dimes, 0.8 blocks and 3.6 treys on a 34.1 usage rate. His coaching staff is treating him like an offensive superstar and big things look to be ahead.

New Orleans Pelicans Fantasy Spin

Anthony Davis (illness) played 22 minutes on Monday vs. the Jazz, scoring 15 points with 11 rebounds, three assists, three steals, three blocks and one triple. Apart from a late appearance to defend an inbounds pass, AD sat in the fourth quarter. Despite playing 22 or less minutes in his last five active games, Davis is still putting up elite numbers with 17.4 points, 8.0 boards, 2.8 dimes, 2.0 blocks and 1.6 steals. Of course he also has two DNPs mixed in, and there’s no telling how long the Pelicans will keep this up. The Pelicans have three more games this week with none of them being back-to-backs, so for now the expectation is that we’ll see him for roughly 20 minutes in all three.

NBA Betting Trends

Utah

The Jazz are 16-4-1 at the betting window in their last 21 games coming off a loss.

New Orleans

The Pelicans are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous contest.

Prediction

The Pelicans have made a habit out of falling behind in their last couple games, only to storm back to stun their opponent and perhaps plenty of bettors who have been fading New Orleans of late. They erased a 17-point deficit to beat the Jazz on Wednesday and overcame a 19-point deficit to upend the Nuggets on Saturday as well. If Utah is as sloppy tonight as it was against New Orleans on Monday (18 turnovers), then I like the Pelicans to cover as a home dog again. The Pels are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games overall and have covered in five of their previous seven home contests.

Wednesday NBA Prediction: New Orleans Pelicans +4.5
