Wildcats snap three-game skid

Villanova edged visiting Marquette 72-71 Wednesday night to improve to 18-6 overall and 8-4 in the Big East Conference. The Wildcats led 38-29 at halftime and held off a comeback attempt by the Golden Eagles after the break. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl paced Villanova with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting plus 5-of-9 at the free throw line. He also registered 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jermaine Samuels tallied 14 points, seven boards and four assists. Collin Gillespie accounted for 14 points, five caroms and four assists. Saddiq Bey added 10 points and two rebounds.

Owls rally past Green Wave

Temple secured a 72-68 victory at Tulane Wednesday night to move to 13-11 overall and 5-7 in Atlantic 10 Conference play. The Owls outscored the Green Wave 44-33 in the second half to secure the win. Quinton Rose paced Temple with 23 points on 6-of-14 shooting plus 11-of-14 from the charity stripe. He also accounted for eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Monty Scott tallied 16 points, four boards and two dimes. Jake Forrester added 10 points and three caroms.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Wildcats are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four road games. Villanova is 0-4 ATS in its last four Sunday games.

The Owls are 1-4 ATS in their last five games as an underdog. The underdog is 2-12 ATS in the last 14 meetings.

I’m not convinced the Wildcats are all the way back on the right track considering it had to hold off a big rally by Marquette three nights ago. That was at home and now the Wildcats are tasked with covering a touchdown on the road. The Owls have played some of their best basketball lately and that includes an overtime win over an elite offensive team in Southern Methodist. I’m inclined to take the hosts this afternoon as I trust their recent play a little more.
