Public Betting Trends

According to our MLB Public Betting Chart page, 53% of the betting tickets are on the Nationals to beat the Mets on the moneyline.

Washington Nationals Fantasy Spin

Gerardo Parra hit a three-run homer Wednesday in the win over the Giants. Parra is hitting .286 with six homers and 30 RBI in 119 at-bats for the Nationals after coming in at .198-1-6 in 86 at-bats for the Giants over the first five weeks of the season. Of course, he’s much better cast in the part-time role he’s enjoyed in D.C. than in the full-time spot the desperate Giants handed him at the beginning of the season. There’s still no reason for the Nationals to play him any more than they are right now.

New York Mets Fantasy Spin

Pete Alonso swatted a two-run homer, his 37th of the season, Wednesday in a win over Miami. Alonso only logged one hit in the victory, but he made it an important one, bombing a two-run shot off Jordan Yamamoto in the first inning. The rookie has followed up a career-long nine-game homerless drought by going deep in three straight contests. Among NL hitters, only reigning MVP Christian Yelich has totaled more homers than Alonso this year.

MLB Betting Trends

The Nationals have won seven straight games following an off day.

New York

The Mets have won eight straight at home and six straight against National League East rivals.

The Mets are the hottest team in baseball right now but I’m fading them on Friday night. The Nationals are 14-5 this season when Stephen Strasburg starts and 4-1 in his last five outings. He owns a 4.03 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP over his last five games, while striking out 37 and allowing only three home runs in his last 29 innings of work. The Nationals are also 8-1 in Strasburg’s last nine road starts versus the Mets and are 40-12 in his last 52 outings on the road overall.

The Pick: Washington Nationals -125
