Luis Robert won’t resume baseball activities for at least 12-16 weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 3 right hip flexor strain. Brutal. A Grade 3 strain is a complete tear, and it’s possible Robert will require surgery to repair the damage. That decision will be made after additional consultations. Even in a best-case scenario, Robert won’t resume baseball activities until late July, so it’s looking like this might wind up being a season-ending injury. The White Sox, of course, have already lost Eloy Jimenez (pectoral) for possibly the season due to injury. Billy Hamilton and Leury Garcia will see time in center field for the White Sox for now, although they figure to seek outside help.

Shogo Akiyama (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the injured list this week. Akiyama has been out all season with a strained left hamstring but has been ramping things up at the Reds’ alternate training site, even homering in a scrimmage there Monday. The 33-year-old wouldn’t seem to be in line for much playing time in the Cincy outfield, at least not initially.

White Sox vs. Reds Betting Prediction

The Reds are 4-9 in their last 13 games overall, are 2-5 in their last seven home games and are 3-7 in their last 10 games versus a right-handed starter. The White Sox, meanwhile, are 4-0 in their last four games coming off a loss, are 6-2 in their last eight interleague games as a favorite and are a perfect 8-0 in their last eight games after allowing five runs or more in their previous game.
